Our Ambulance Service was founded in 1949 by Halfway VFW Post 7847. We are an all volunteer ambulance service. Our personnel are certified by the State of Oregon. We have 3 EMT Intermediates, 8 EMT Basics, 2 First Responders. 2 advanced life support members, and 2 drivers ready to roll at a moments notice. We are equipped with pagers and can be paged at any time by the Baker County 911 Center.

The Halfway-Oxbow Ambulance Service is dedicated to serving this community with the highest quality of pre-hospital care and transportation available regardless of race, religion, or the ability to pay. We are committed to providing continuing education for all personnel and upgrading our equipment as our budget allows.

Our service area includes the communities of Halfway, Oxbow, and Brownlee, as well as surrounding rural and recreational areas. We cover approximately 3,500 square miles from Hells Canyon Dam on the Snake River to the Eagle Cap Wilderness and surrounding Forest Service, BLM, and private lands. Average transport time to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker City is 1 to 1 1/2 hours. We have two ambulances in the area. Life Flight, an air ambulance from Boise, Idaho, is also available in our region. Whether you are a resident or a visitor just passing through, if the need arises,
